How do I know when it’s time to repaint my home?
We recommend painting your house every 5-10 years, or every 4-7 years if it is stained. There are a variety of factors that can determine the lifespan of your current paint job, including the amount of prep work put in the last time (sanding, scraping) and the quality of the paint used. A lot of people tend to get into a routine of painting their home every 5-7 years so that they prevent any damage from starting in the first place.
How do I know if I have lead paint?
It’s something we always check! If you have any specific questions about lead paint, the EPA maintains a phone number you can call to ask questions: 1-800-424-LEAD
How many coats of paint do I really need on my home?
For the exterior, we use a thick primer and high-quality top coat. If you are using the same color or just a shade off, then one coat of each will do just fine. If the color is going to change dramatically, then we recommend using two coats of exterior paint. Stain jobs are always two coats unless you insist on just one and the wood isn’t very dry. When we paint over aluminum or vinyl siding, we like to use two light coats.
